Black and white televisionsDomesticThe television receiver of the black-and-white image "23TN-4" was developed in 1941 at VNIIT (All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Television). Engineers V.K.Kenigson, M.N. Tovbin, S.A.Orlov, N.S.Luchishnin, A.Ya.Klopov and others developed a prototype of a single-channel and the most advanced TV for those years "23TN-4" with a diameter kinescope of 23 centimeters and the ability to receive a television image with decomposition into 240, 343 and 441 lines. The TV successfully passed tests and was prepared for serial production at the Leningrad plant "Radist", however, due to the outbreak of the war, all work on the production of the model was curtailed. Based on the general design of the 23TN-4 TV set and its general design, in the late forties, the serial production of the KVN-49-1 type TV was started.
