Subscriber loudspeaker "Chaika-5".

Subscriber loudspeakers.DomesticThe subscriber loudspeaker of the third class "Chaika-5" in the USSR was produced by two enterprises: Kuibyshevsky plant No. 281 NKAP, MAP, "Ekran", PO Box 114 and Kuibyshevsky plant "KINAP", however, the range of their products was significantly different. Since 1954, the Ekran plant, on the same element base, has been producing the country's widest assortment of Chaika-5 loudspeakers, which differed in appearance. The first two versions actually repeated the design of the AG "Chaika-3" with a lattice and a seagull figurine on the front surface. Both versions had the same size and weight as the AG "Chaika-3": 200x140x90 mm, weight 1.4 kg. The only difference was in the element base, the method of attaching the magnet to the speaker (the screen models used screws with round caps instead of nuts) and markings on the back wall. Both of these versions of the Chaika-5 AG were produced at the Ekran plant in the version for a 30-volt network and, regardless of the case design, were marked "0.25-GD-III-1". But, besides this, the plant produced an economical model marked "0.15-GD-III-1", which was also intended for a 30-volt network, but had a smaller magnet in the dynamics (52 mm instead of 60 mm) and a power of 0, 15 watts In 1958, the Ekran plant stopped production of both of these variants, replacing them with a fundamentally different design of the loudspeaker, which nevertheless retained the former name Chaika-5. The new version had a trapezoidal shape with an expansion at the top and a narrowing at the bottom. It was large in size 160x214 (top) x160x195x92 mm, but lighter in weight - 1.1 kg. This model consisted of two collapsible elements - a side frame (it was made of black carbolite) and a decorative panel inserted into it, on the inside of which an element base was mounted. The panel was produced in three basic colors: white, blue and salad. On its front surface there was a bas-relief of a flying seagull. The Ekran plant produced this model in two versions of the element base, which had different markings on the rear wall. In the first version, the transformer was attached to the speaker basket. This version was labeled "0.25-GD-III-1". In the second version, the transformer was installed on the panel separately from the speaker. This version was marked "0.25-GD-III-2". In all ekranovsky models of the Chaika-5 AG, a rheostat-type volume control was used, and the range of reproducible sound frequencies was 150 ... 5000 Hz. The production of loudspeakers at the Ekran plant was discontinued at the beginning of 1959 and transferred to the Kuibyshev plant KINAP, which continued to produce only the trapezoidal type of AG Chaika-5. Kinapovskie AG "Chaika-5" were identical to the second version of the Ekran model, but were already produced under the new GOST (5961-59) and were marked "0.15-GD-III-2". The only feature of the Kinapov AG "Chaika-5" was a speaker with a new ferroalloy magnet and a round hole in the cover of its attachment. Loudspeakers were made for a 30 volt network. The production of AG "Chaika-5" at the "Kinap" plant was discontinued in the early 60s, with the start of production of new loudspeakers under the name "Volga".
