Designed for two-way radio communications by telephone and telegraph. Assembled on 11 battery finger lamps. It is powered by batteries directly and through a vibration transducer. The frequency range is 3.5 ... 4 MHz. Receiver sensitivity 10 μV. The output power of the transmitter is 100 mW. Types of work CW and AM. The antennas used are of the "pin", "beam" type. Since 1960, the Granit-M radio station has been produced with a universal power supply, from batteries and from an alternating current network. Both were used in the Navy in Marine Corps reconnaissance and as training. The communication range with a radio station of the same type in AM on a whip antenna is up to 3 km, on a "beam" antenna up to 5 km, CW up to 5 and 8 km.
