Since the beginning of 1972, the plant has been producing the Sputnik-401 tape recorder with the same design and appearance as the previous one, but with the addition of a reduced speed of 2.38 cm / s and minor circuit changes. In particular, instead of a conventional cassette, it was possible to insert a special radio cassette, purchased separately, and be able to listen to the programs of radio broadcasting stations in the long wavelength range. The radio cassette receiver could be assembled according to the direct amplification scheme or superheterodyne.
