Tape recorder '' MDS-2 ''.

Tape recorders and radio tape recorders. The MDS-2 tape recorder was presumably developed in 1950 at the Moscow Experimental Plant for subsequent release. Dictation tape recorder "MDS-2" is intended for continuous recording on magnetic tape of telephone conversations, reports, dispatch orders and other speech transmissions with subsequent playback. The use of the MDS-2 tape recorder in institutions will speed up the process of stenography of various reports and speeches and will increase the accuracy of stenography. The tape recorder is made in the form of a console, in which there is a tape drive mechanism with one electric motor, an amplifying device and an automation system. The MDS-2 tape recorder can be controlled from the console or by a foot control pedal. An external dynamic microphone is attached to the tape recorder to record reports and lectures. The MDS-2 tape recorder is equipped with an original device for starting and stopping the tape drive mechanism. The use of this device allows you to fully automate the recording process. When a signal appears at the amplifier input, the tape recorder turns on for recording and stops itself 10 seconds after the end of the transmission. Using the same device, dictation of the recorded text is carried out; the tape recorder automatically dictates the recorded speech according to short semantic groups of words, almost in the same way as a person would dictate it. If necessary, any dictated group of words can be repeated. Thanks to automation, work on the tape recorder after installing the magnetic tape is reduced only to pressing a foot pedal or a control key. The MDS-2 tape recorder has the following electrical and exloatation data: end-to-end frequency response recording-reproduction in the range 200 ... 3500 Hz with unevenness from 2 to 5 dB. The harmonic coefficient is not more than 3.5% at a frequency of 400 Hz with 100% modulation of the sound carrier. The level of intrinsic noise is minus 35 dB. Belt advance speed 192.5 mm / sec. Duration of sounding of one roll is 60 minutes. Duration of rewinding of a roll is 3 minutes. The tape recorder is powered from 110, 127 and 220 V AC mains. Power consumption from the mains is 125 W. The amplifier of the tape recorder is equipped with a system of automatic gain control during recording, which allows changing the input level from minus 5 to plus 20 dB.
