Since 1990, the Vega RM-338S radio tape recorder has been produced with the name Vega-RM-338S-2. The appearance of the radio tape recorder, but mainly its front panel, has changed somewhat, and its electrical circuit has been modified. At the beginning of 1992, after modernization, the radio tape recorder was transferred to the second class and began to be referred to as `` Vega RM-238S-2 &#39;&#39;.

Commentary by Sergey Vasiliev from Novosibirsk (some of his photos): In the first Vega-338S radio tape recorders, and later Vega RM-338S, the AF amplifier and the receiver were assembled on micro-assemblies of their own manufacture. In 1990, the radio tape recorder was modernized, we read it simplified and it became known as Vega RM-338S-2. Micro-assemblies K224UN6A were abolished, instead of them the OU K157UD2 plus loose powder was used. This influenced the sound for the better, it became juicier and bassier. Later, high-frequency capsules were abolished. The modernization affected the receiver, instead of the K224XA5 and XA6 microassemblies, the K-174 MCs were used, the K224FN2 microassembly in the stereo decoder was also abolished. This worsened the quality of the stereo reception. In this form, the receiver has become unified and similar to the Vega RM-250C model. Externally, ML &quot;Vega RM-338S&quot; and &quot;Vega RM-338S-2&quot; differed only in the inscription C-2 and the absence or presence of HF capsules.
